Shared ownership
A share of the yacht.
A place in the plan.

What does a yacht share include?
A share is an interest in the ownership arrangement for one particular yacht. The offer documents explain the legal structure and your rights, and the individual agreement sets out your time aboard, peak-season allocations, guest use and access outside booked periods.
No single allocation suits every boat, so it helps to look beyond the headline. A quarter share should not automatically be read as thirteen sailing weeks: maintenance periods, the operating season, handovers and the owners’ agreed calendar all shape the time you can actually use.
Know the annual commitment.
The purchase price is only part of the picture. Before you proceed, you should see a budget showing expected berthing or storage, insurance, routine maintenance, management fees and reserves, along with your own cruising costs and any separately charged services, so there are no surprises.
An operating float helps bills be met as they fall due, and a replacement reserve prepares for larger future costs. Neither is a promise that the annual contribution will cover every eventuality, so it is worth agreeing in advance how spending is authorised and how any additional owner contributions are handled.

Make the calendar work for everyone.
A fair system starts with what each owner hopes for from the season, alongside the realities of weather and maintenance. Peak periods can rotate, longer passages can be planned and handover time can be built in. If you would like to cruise away from the home base, agree in advance where the boat will be left, who brings it back and who pays any extra costs.

The right people and a clear agreement.
Good co-ownership starts with good co-owners. Prospective owners are assessed against the agreed requirements for funding, sailing competence, insurance and responsible use, and the applicable approvals are completed before any transfer. A clear written agreement should also cover late payments, damage, disputes and how a share can be sold later.
